By Dale Baxter

Theres nothing quite like the thrill of slow‑twitching a suspending jerkbait tight to structure where every flick, pause, and twitch becomes the difference between a strike and a whisper. Watching a bream flare out its pectoral fins whilst a jerkbait sits there suspended ready to pounce as soon as you impart the smallest action to it is so much fun. That is why the Daiwa Infeet SK6102LFS has become one of my favourite tools in the Infeet range and my preferred rod for shallow jerkbaits like the Infeet Sazanami and Double Clutch 75SR.

The Tech Stuff - Engineered for Sensitivity and Control

This rod features Fujis SK (Skeleton) reel seat for a lighter and more tactile feel with an Eva foam on the reel screw down it gives a perfect fit in the hand. Its married exquisitely with Daiwa's near‑full complement of AGS carbon‑fibre guidesyielding unprecedented responsiveness and zero drag from excess weight making this rod one of the lightest in the Infeet range.

The blank itself is built using HVFNanoplus graphite with X45X Full Shield tech. What that means is effortless casting with crisp feedback—no blank twist, pure energy delivery with every flick of the wrist and more sensitivity to feel the lightest of bites.

Dialled for Deadly Jerkbait Action

At 6'10" (208cm), the 6102LFS is short enough for pinpoint control, yet long enough to give the perfect action on small hardbodies. Beingfasttapered makes it ideal for tip‑down work twitching, and precision retrieve rather than slinging. When you twitch a suspending jerk‑bait like the Daiwa Double Clutch or Sazanami, this rod fights right back—not just transferring motion but amplifying it.

Whether its twitching next to a sang or for mudding bream on a flat, the fast taper ensures even the faintest bite gives immediate feedback.

If you also needing a rod to cover a few techniques in one this also doubles as a great topwater and light plastics rod as well so will cover a few situations to keep in check with the budget.

Perfect for Close‑Quarter Plastics

Around jetties, oyster racks, or pontoon pilings—where soft plastics and finesse moves matter—it pairs beautifully with the new Bait Junkie Covert jigheads and perfect for skip casting to the strike zone. While I often default to the 681L+FS for skip‑casting soft plastics, the 6102LFS shares that same precision, with added finesse and responsiveness in tighter spots with a little more back bone for pulling our bigger fish.

The Final Word

This is my go-to jerkbait rod, for either structure or vast shallow flats this rod will cast lures a mile and then give you precise control on the retrieve to entice the fussiest of bream bites. Everyone loves hardbody bite, there is nothing quite like the anticipation of waiting for that hit or for sight casting fish in structure and watching them get tempted by the subtlest of twitches that you the angler imparts on the lure. the precision you get from this rod is just as rewarding as the hit. get into your local tackle store and pick one up, you won’t be disappointed.
