Fishing enthusiasts around the world know that having the right gear can make all the difference between a day of frustration and a day of triumph on the water. Daiwa, a name synonymous with quality and innovation in the fishing industry, we believe, has once again raised the bar with its new range of Saltiga jigs. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a weekend warrior, Daiwa’s latest offerings are sure to enhance your fishing experience. Let’s dive into what makes these jigs a must-have.

The Design

Daiwa's commitment to innovation is evident in the design and performance of their new range of jigs. Each model has been meticulously crafted to meet the demands of modern jigging techniques. With advancements in materials and technology, we have seen first-hand these jigs are not only more durable but also more effective in attracting fish. Daiwa has harnessed feedback from anglers around the globe to develop jigs that cater to various jigging styles, from shallow coastal bays to the deep reef edges and the oceanic shelf.

The Range

One of the standout features for us of Daiwa's new jig range is its diversity. Whether you're targeting coral trout, red emperor, reef dwellers, or dogtooth tuna, there’s a jig tailored for our needs to match the hatch on a variety of baitfish in our local area. The line-up includes:

- Vertical high-speed Jigs: The TB jig and SL jig are designed for deep-water high-speed jigging, these jigs sink quickly especially through current and mimic the movement of distressed prey. They are perfect for targeting species such as Dogtooth Tuna that are suspended in the mid water column feeding on fast moving baitfish.

- Slow pitch jigging: The FK jig is a compact and versatile jig designed for enticing most species, it flutters on the fall creating a natural swimming action that triggers strikes from fish in all water depths. We like to target deep fish that hold tight to the bottom such as Nannygai and red Emperor but have also done exceptionally well with a higher speed retrieve on Dogtooth tuna! our favourite jig in the range for sure.

- High and slow pitch Jig: The bigger belly BS jig is dynamite on the fall and something we believe fish have never seen before, the bigger rounder profile makes them excellent for targeting big, pressured fish such as Red Emperor and Coral Trout in deep water. The fish find them irresistible as they slide down through the water column with a balanced wobble. We won’t leave an area without dropping the backslide!

Made to Work

Daiwa hasn’t just focused on variety; they’ve also incorporated enhanced features into their new jigs:

- Ultra-Sharp dual BKK assist hooks: Each jig is equipped with high-quality, ultra-sharp hooks with flashy skirt that ensure solid hook-ups and reduce the chances of fish escaping. A highly convenient feature for us out wide – straight out of the packet and into the depths.

- Premium Finishes: The jigs come in a range of eye-catching colours and finishes, including glow-in-the-dark options, designed to attract fish in various water conditions.

- Ergonomic Design: The shape and weight distribution of each jig have been optimized for maximum performance, allowing for correct weight options for the water depth we are fishing - they start at 40g and top off at 280g currently which allows for the correct fall and movement through current and water depth.

Working It!

To get the most out of your Daiwa jigs, here are some tips to consider:

1. Match the Jig to the Conditions: Pay attention to water clarity, depth, and the species you're targeting. Choose a jig size and colour that best fits the environment and water depths.

2. Experiment with Retrieval Techniques: Different species may respond better to various retrieval methods. Try slow hopping, fast jerking, or steady retrieval to see what works best.

3. Use the Right Rod and Reel: Pair your jig with a suitable rod and reel setup. A medium to medium-heavy rod with a fast action tip can provide better sensitivity and control.

4. Stay Patient: Sometimes, it takes a little time for the fish to bite. Stay patient and keep trying different jigs and techniques until you find the perfect combination.

That’s a Wrap

Daiwa’s new range of fishing jigs is more than just a collection of lures; it’s a testament to the Saltiga Name being innovative and highest quality. We love the convenience of them coming pre-rigged straight out of the packet with twin assist hooks. With a variety of options tailored for different fishing styles and conditions, these jigs are poised to become essential tools for anglers everywhere. So, gear up, hit the water, and get ready to experience the thrill of fishing like never before with the range of Daiwa Saltiga cutting-edge jigs.

Tight lines, Will and Mary.
