Barramundi are large predators that will eat a wide variety of prey. Live baits of mullet or herring are very successful, but need to be fished on relatively heavy estuary tackle.
Lure anglers have success with bibbed minnows, soft plastics, topwater lures, flies and many more. Sturdy baitcast tackle is the preferred tool for these hard fighters, which often entertain anglers by jumping high when hooked.
