TikTok Estuary cod inhabit tropical estuary, inshore and offshore waters, extending south to around the central coast NSW in the east and the central coast of WA in the west. Estuary cod can reach almost 2m in length and around 100kg, but are common around 50cm and 1-2kg.
Estuary cod are gluttonous feeders, often biting off more than they can chew. Large live or dead baits of squid, fish and crab are suitable baits. They're are often taken as by-catch by those chasing mangrove jack and barramundi, and hard-bodies, soft plastics and vibration baits are often their undoing.
