Mahi mahi, often called dolphinfish or dorado are a fast-growing pelagic species found throughout the world in tropical, sub-tropical and temperate waters.
Mahi mahi generally gather around floating debris, such as logs, seaweed clumps, and even man-made objects. Unweighted dead baits such as pilchard or squid are successful in these situations.
Similarly, lures can be used in the same areas. Larger fish will often swim with offshore currents, where they can be targeted by trolling large gamefishing presentations, like skirted lures or specially rigged dead baits.
