Golden perch, yellowbelly or callop, are a member of the temperate perches, or percichthyidae family, and are found in slow flowing freshwater rivers, but have also been stocked into a number of dams around the country. In impoundments, golden perch are know to exceed 75cm and around 15kg, however in their natural environent they are rarely seen over 60cm and 7-8kg.
Golden perch are a highly-regarded sportfish that respond well to a variety of baits and lures.
