Favourite Technique / Species / Fishing Style
Rock fishing for Samson fish and groper, anything that can pull line from heavy gear while my feet are on the rocks gets me excited.
Angling Inspiration
My grandad got me into fishing. I will always remember him teaching me how to catch squid on a hand line with a jag under a float. He well and truly started my passion for fishing. Even though these days I find myself chasing mostly larger fish I still enjoy the basics and a day chasing herring, King George whiting and squid always reminds me of where it all started when I was about 4 years old.
My Local (Favourite Fishing Spot)
Favourite spot is Dirk Hartog Island, so much variety and different fish to target in different ways.
Why I Fish
I fish for the challenge, if it was easy I wouldn’t be as devoted to it as I am. Goals I’ve seen others achieve, or stories I’ve heard motivate me to always try new things, improve on ways I fish and to always learn.

Favourite Fishing Moment
My first mulloway would have to be up there. I fished 2-3 nights a week for nearly 2 years before I got my first one off a beach. My big GT off the cliffs is also another good one. It took 6 years of trips up north for it to finally all come together and land one. I guess the fish I’ve worked hardest for mean the most to me.
