DAIWA FISHING TIPS: Sneaky kayak sessions – Micah Adams

Time allowed to fish was limited but I did manage to get a pair of two hour sessions in and the fishing didn’t let me down. I would have released somewhere near fifty fish. Most were small to medium sized but they did range as large as a 40cm Bream in a foot of water and a memorable 45cm Estuary Perch that ate my lure just a couple of meters off the rod tip in clear water. It’s rare to watch a Perch eat a lure, and at close range, it was very impressive.

I only used two lures for the weekend- the Daiwa Presso Minnow and a Bent Minnow. Daiwa’s new Silver Wolf range of rods and reels specifically designed for tournament and specialist bream anglers is just as good a piece of ultralight sport fishing gear that has ever been created! The reels are beautifully smooth and the rods are simply the best I’ve used anywhere with ags guides, incredible blanks and an awesome grip assembly. The combination is as technical as it is stylish.

On another note. I doubt there is a better craft to explore pocket water than Hobie’s latest pro angler kayak. With awesome rod and tackle storage, the best seat in the business and my hands completely free to fish due to their pedal propulsion. The Daiwa Silver Wolf and Hobie pro angler combination certainly make a lethal pair for me on my sneaky lagoons and creeks full of fish!
