Jewfish, or mulloway, are a member of the family sciaenidae, and inhabit estuary, inshore and offshore waters in southern Australia. Mulloway can grow to at least 1.8m and 60kg, but there are anecdotal reports of larger fish being taken. In estuaries, they are more common under 1m and 10kg.
Mulloway are found throughout southern Australia from WA's Gascoyne region to Queensland's Wide Bay. Despite rumours of fish being found on Tasmania's East Coast, no definitive reports have come from Tasmania.
