Squid, or calamari as they are known in some areas, are found around all of Australia’s coastline. It’s possible to catch good numbers of squid in most of our coastal reaches, however the relationship they have with anglers varies widely depending where you go.

Working squid or egi jigs around seagrass beds, rocks, rubble and other structure in clear saltwater environments is a good way to find squid.

Fishing with dead baits rigged on a squid jag and suspended under a squidder float is also very effective. Here are some tackle recommendations when targeting sand whiting.
