Jesse Rotin
A quiet talking fishing assassin with a desire to catch almost anything that swims Jesse loves the challenges and rewards that fishing has to offer. Born and bred in Melbourne fishing occupies most parts of his life, with working in a fishing tackle store keeping him up to speed with the latest fishing trends and technologies and time on the water keeping on-trend with what’s biting.
When he’s got a rod in hand Jesse likes to chase a host of different species with bream on lures, squid on jigs, and snapper and salmon in the bay and on the beaches all prime targets when he’s fishing.

When did the love of fishing grab you and was there someone that got you into it?
At quite a young age fishing with my brother and dad, catching flathead off a break wall.
What was the style of fishing that you did when your first started fishing?
Bait fishing.
What (e.g. escapism, competition, connection with people/nature) does angling give you?
Love being outdoors and by the water. It takes my mind off normal life, and I love the challenges that fish present at times.
Who or what inspires your angling?
Trying to learn and share tips and techniques with fellow anglers to further the sport of fishing.
What has been your favourite moment/memory in fishing?
There have been multiple occasions where great memories have been made and getting out with people to share the passion is what lasts with me forever.
What’s your angling goals for the future?
To share with others the joy that fishing brings. Just like the people before me who took the time to pass down tips and techniques to help grow the sport that I now love.
What advice would you give to new anglers entering the sport?
Be patient and never forget what first attracted us to give fishing a go.
What can we do as anglers to make our sport and the industry better in the future?
Looking after our future stocks of fish, caring for the waterways and enjoy our fishing, no matter the result, big or small.
