Monocoque (MQ) body design is the single greatest leap in spinning reel design ever produced. Realising a true single piece body construction of spinning reels on the market. MQ technology delivers benefits to anglers on multiple fronts. By replacing the traditional sideplate with a large direct screw-in engine plate, the extra material required on the main frame is no longer needed, and as a result of that design the size of drive gear which can be installed is maximised.

Daiwa’s ATD (Automatic Tournament Drag) uses an improved drag grease that exhibits a low viscosity at rest. This reduces initial drag start-up inertia resulting in a smoother drag from the initial hook up. The ATD TYPE-L drag system works smoothly in response to the pull of a fish. But the initial response of the drag has been further improved, especially when using lighter lines to further reduce the load on the line and enable quicker catch without causing too much stress to the fish.

Daiwa’s revolutionary TWS (T-Wing System) addresses the issue of traditional line guide/level wind systems constricting line flow by delivering a T-shaped line guide that is larger, wider and less restrictive. An industry first for fishing reels Daiwa’s Anode Protect system installs a replaceable sacrificial zinc anode inside the reel body to further protect key internal parts from the corrosive effects of heavy saltwater use.
